Fieldwork in Spain, April 2016
Zahira Araguëte-Toribio conducted fieldwork to follow the discussions on the project of a new Law of Historical Memory in the region of Extremadura (south western Spain) from 15th to 25th April 2016. Fieldwork included interviews with the main representatives of local historical memory associations such as the Association for the Recovery of Historical Memory in Extremadura (ARMHEX) and the Association Memorial in Cáceres Cemetery (AMECECA), and members of the regional Project for the Recovery of Historical Memory in Extremadura (PREMHEX).
It also included attending the round table Sobre la Futura Ley de Memoria Histórica en Extremadura and the ‘12th Commemorative Act for the Victims of Castuera’s Concentration Camp and of Francoist Repression’, organised by the Association Memorial for Castuera’s Concentration Camp (AMECADEC) and held in the village of Castuera on 16th and 17th of April 2016.
